This timber framed, eco addition turns a small, earth-bermed home into a light-filled, elegant, modern microbrewery pub.
Reclaimed materials are used throughout the project, including the structural framing (from houses demolished nearby), interior trim (from local barns), wood wall and ceiling finishes (off-cuts from an oak joinery workshop), and exterior siding (from a local barn being demolished). The roof is engineered to support plants.
The interior is clean, open and well lit, creating a highly flexible space. The central oak stair in its brightly painted stairwell, provides passive stack ventilation and brings warmly tinted light deep into the space.
Role: Architect (integrated design-build procurement in partnership with D2R contractors).
